Hey, I'm Zoltán (or Šaca, or Zoli) the one of new EVS volunteers in Pekarna.
My train arrived to Maribor on a wonderful Friday around at 9.30 pm, and almost immediately I have been started to integrate to the local community. I met many people, and I saw many places in the city.
The first was Gustaf (concert hall of Pekarna), where I could know some members of Pekarna, among them Ieva too who showed me the city. We were in "the cheapest and most visited" pub near Gustaf, in Satchmo, in Pekmez Gallery and finally we were in MARŠ nuclear submarine too :)
It is a dangerous place where the safety is really important. You must wear immunizing cap and gloves there, but after you have these, you can see every secret things on the board of nuclear submarine.... if Klemen (the most crazy pirate) shows you :) So, it was a great night.
In the next days I started to explore the city, and to see how works the things in Pekarna. And already now I can say, I like this city and people around me.
Of course, I have to get into the habit of several things. For example: the green light by the crosswalk is usually too short and without flashing, here is no non-stop shop, the ketchup and the mustard or the flour and the sugar and the salt aren't next to each other in the shop, the "kaki" is a fruit, not a shit, and the local beer if often more expensive (and not so good) than the imported.
Well, I think it will be great time for me in Maribor. You are hearing from me! Adijo!
